Role Summary/Purpose
The Release Deployment Manager is responsible for managing the build and maintenance of all the environments for the projects within the release, including planning and managing the implementation of the business solution into production.
The deployment manager is responsible for coordinating all parties to ensure there is agreement between stakeholders as to the content of each release, and publish and maintain release notes detailing those contents.
Essential Responsibilities
Manage environment builds for release projects by mobilising various IT departments and third party vendors
Lead technical discussions with multiple projects stakeholders to achieve release goals
Manage cross functional and technical impact, identify possible risks and design risk mitigation plans by working closely with project teams
Manage release change control process and facilitate negotiation discussions with projects and wider stakeholders including channel and product owners in GE Capital
Tactical responsibility to plan and manage release implementation by consulting with various IT & Business teams and third party vendors to drive strategic alignment to achieve release and business goals
Participate in PEF Implement tollgate for release
Lead and execute release implementation windows by managing various IT and test teams including third party vendors
Act as the first point of contact for all implementation escalations and manage post implementation issue resolution ensuring release closure coordinating various Business and IT stakeholders
Manage communications with IT/Business stakeholders by acting as a single point of contact for release implementations
Represent release technical team in discussions with other department leads in GE Capital including Channel leaders and product owners
Manage test deployment drops by setting up operating rhythm working closely Release Test teams
Ensuring correctness of deployment artefacts and adherence to GE processes and standards
Maintaining functional or technical traceability matrix for release projects and manage comms to release stakeholders for test deployments
Plan and Manage Dry Runs and Disaster Recovery implementations
Facilitate workshops for Support Handover review process
Provide status report to Release Manager
Processing of the release Change Requests for release implementations and ensuring timely approval
Working with Production Assurance teams for release implementations including attending CAB meetings, representing release Change Requests and setting up Support Handover framework for the release
Share best practice and learning with wider stakeholders.
Qualifications/Requirements
Qualifications
Tertiary qualifications in a technology or business related discipline
Experience
Minimum 5 years’ experience as an Implementation Manager, or Environment Build Manager.
GE Business experience (at least 3 years) – with a proven track record of managing technical mainframe and midrange resources.
Technical Knowledge
Comprehensive understanding of GE’s Environments
Knowledge of the systems that are being added or modified
Understanding of the IT processes including change control and configuration management.
Understanding of GE’s Mainframe and Midrange Team Structures
Problem solving – the ability to systematically identify root causes to problems or issues and to define options for resolution in a timely manner.
To leverage the GE network to validate information provided, to ensure it is accurate and consistent.
