Role Summary/Purpose     Lead and support the management of enterprise and operational risk for the Insurance business within GE Capital Australia and New Zealand (A&NZ).
Essential Responsibilities    

• Leading the development, implementation and monitoring of the Governance structure and Enterprise Risk Management Framework (ERMF) for the Insurance business. Including responsibility for the management of the Insurance Enterprise Risk Management Committee and assist with the governance of the Investment Committee.

• Lead the ongoing development of risk appetite across the Insurance business. Drive initiatives to enhance the quality, depth analysis, reporting and escalation of key enterprise risks.

• Provide structure and oversight to the adoption of significant GE Capital policies and ensure appropriate interpretation and implementation by the Insurance business.

• Provide leadership, guidance, insight and oversight for the identification, assessment, monitoring and pro-active management of risks for the Insurance business.

• Develop sound working relationships within the Insurance business including the Board and its independent directors, to enable the risk management framework to be embedded in day to day management of their business.

• Identify emerging risks by leveraging external sources and the ERMF and working with key business owners to develop and oversee deployment of remediation actions • Lead the implementation of GE Capital’s risk management methodology, risk tools and systems in accordance with GECC policy and procedure for the Insurance business. • Drive cultural awareness and external focus of Enterprise Risk Management. Embed and support a positive and mature risk and compliance culture.
Qualifications/Requirements     Qualifications
• Educated to degree level in numerate or commercial discipline, or have significant industry-based experience in governance, enterprise and operational risk. Experience in insurance business would be considered advantageous.

Experience
• 7 years’ experience in risk management and/or experience in front line, operations or enabling functions.

Technical Knowledge
• Experience in the design and deployment of Risk Management practices within a regulated financial institution
• Experience in embedding a risk framework in a peer organisation
• Experience in development and implementation of Risk and Compliance systems
• Knowledge of the capital requirements for a regulated financial institution
• Experience in the development, monitoring and escalation of Risk Appetite metrics and triggers
• Up to date knowledge of sector Best Practice and regulatory requirements

Skills
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with strong capabilities to articulate complex analytical information
• Proven leadership skills and the ability to motivate and effectively engage a Risk Management team, business unit leaders and risk community
• Sound negotiation, facilitation & presentation skills
• Good analytic and statistical skills, prior experience in business use of statistics a pre-requisite
