Risk Management (RM) in Australia and
New Zealand develops as part of the global and regional Risk Management
organization. You will be a key contributor to the J.P. Morgan Investor
Services franchise in the location.
Position Summary
The Investor Services Risk Manager reports directly to the Head of Investor Services Risk Management of Australia and New Zealand and is responsible for ensuring the highest standard of risk management.
Risk Management (RM) in Australia and New Zealand develops as part of the global and regional Risk Management organization. You will be a key contributor to the J.P. Morgan Investor Services franchise in the location.
Primary responsibilities include:
Experience / Qualifications / Knowledge:
· Financial services background required, with at least 8-10 years experience in management and Risk roles
· Knowledge of securities processing, funds management, treasury services highly preferred
· Qualifications and experience in a Risk Management role preferred
· Outstanding leadership and influencing skills
· Proven management and partnership skills
· Proven strategic thinking, analysis and reporting skills
· Strong planning and organization skills
· Strong knowledge of multiple business disciplines (operations, sales, product, credit, finance, client, etc.)
· Experience in interacting with global partners and senior management across the organization
· Advanced degree preferred

- The escalation point for potential and actual risk issues of Investor Services Australia and New Zealand
- Sponsor key projects or aspects of key projects related to risk
- Execute the J.P. Morgan Risk Management strategy and support the Investor Services Australia and New Zealand strategy
- Ensure the Risk Management perspective is "at the table" for all Investor Services Australia and New Zealand strategic and operational discussions
- Partners with all Australia and New Zealand business and functional colleagues to guide consistent and rigorous risk management practices, risk event analysis and operational/credit risk reporting
- Partner with regional and global Investor Services Risk Management teams to ensure consistent best practices and appropriate controls for product specific issues
- Provide thought leadership in balancing risk and reward and lead others to value the economic benefits of risk management
- Act as the voice to senior executives on key risk events
- Facilitate end to end/deep dive reviews of key processes, provide insights and feedback to business partners, and ensure integrity in the review process itself
- Manages credit requirements and reviews existing credit lines for suitability and makes additional credit requests where required.
- Manages requirements for ad hoc temporary overdraft lines, change in credit facilities and client queries.
- Ensures relevant credit, operational and reputational risk policies adequately articulate and mitigate the risks associated with the products and client profiles.
- Guides product managers and stakeholders through the approval of new products / initiatives, ensuring that all relevant risk issues are clearly communicated and addressed.
- Works with business partners in reviewing customer exception processing and deal structuring to minimize risk exposure
- Lead the prioritization of key risks
- Actively participate in the regional Risk Management processes
- Provide governance and review on the outcomes of the Control Self Assessment (CSA) and the New Business Initiative Approval (NBIA) processes
- Independently identify, assess and guide mitigation of risk issues
- Provide deep insight into issues through access to internal/external authorities
- A leader in the monthly Investor Services Risk Committee, ensuring engagement and ownership from all business functions, encompassing reporting from all other risk and control functions (Compliance, Legal and Audit, IT and Resiliency risk.)
