The Team

Wealth Risk Management Shared Solutions (Shared Solutions) provides support to the various WM business lines in the provision of design and implementation skills in the area of Risk Management. One of the teams within Shared Solutions' is The Group Substantial Shareholding team. Their main focus is monitoring the Group's substantial shareholding requirements and transitioning the remainder of an initiative to ensure that all the relevant Groups' holdings are monitored into their team. The Group operates in multiple jurisdictions globally and has shareholdings across a range of these jurisdictions.

The Role

This position will be part of the centralised Group Substantials team, ensuring that the Group satisfies its Substantial Shareholding obligations across multiple jurisdictions. The purpose of the role is to ensure that filings are lodged accurately and on time across the 76 jurisdictions (once completely transitioned by end of 2013) and that statutory maximum limit information is provided to the business on a timely basis.

Main Duties
  • Assistance with transitioning of remaining 31 countries from other teams. This may involve the initial legal analysis, data reconciliations and or system setup of rules.
  • Project work - Implementation of one system module to the existing system, the "takeover reporting" module.
  • Execution of day to day operations of the substantial shareholdings team, including pre- filing checking and approvals.
  • Maintaining the Risk framework of the function and conducting testing thereof as required.
  • Involvement in the due diligence for the validation, testing, sign off and implementation of new rules (or changes to current rules).
  • Management of the alerts arising from the system. This involves ensuring that the relevant local compliance, risk or operational teams are provided with timely and accurate information to submit reports or manage trading within their jurisdiction.
  • Submitting the reports for all jurisdictions where applicable. Obtaining the necessary legal advice and translation services concerning reports.

Experience Required
  • Risk Management, Compliance, Legal or Regulatory experience ideally from a large financial institution.
  • Strong systems & business process administration skills.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to deal with a range of stakeholders across multiple jurisdictions involving cultural differences and timezones.
