As part of the IT Service Management Operations andApplication and Database Operations team, the Applications and DB teams manage a portfolio of critical applications and Database services used by internal and external customers.

We have a new opportunity for an experienced database manager to join our team.

Your new role manages the outcomes of the operational delivery of multiple hosting and application technologies within the Bank. The role is accountable for ensuring operational standards and processes are met by our service providers groups - regardless of their sourcing (internal/external). This includes, but not limited to, the Application Service Providers TCS, HCL, Accenture and IBM.

The role is the primary conduit for operational delivery governance for the Application Service Providers and is domain based to enable delivery alignment with Business IT for more effective delivery.

Main accountabilities are operational delivery governance, operational SMEs for products, SLA review management, capacity monitoring and advice, operational relationship management with SPGs/ASPs, BU IT relationship, operational service life-cycle management, service improvement , service integration, governance/quality control project deliverables and onboarding and transitioning new services.   • Responsible for the operational delivery management of the production, disaster recovery and controlled environments across the Oracle and SQL Database environments
  • Responsible for changes, incidents, problems & corrective actions and provide 24/7 escalation point for Service Management support for service interruptions (when required) across the Database environment
  • Oversee the integration of services from multiple application service providers, monitor service provider compliance with operational policies and processes, escalate issues of non-compliance as appropriate
  • Manage the operational delivery (including life-cycle activities) such that the services are provided in a consistent and reliable manner to the Bank and its customers within agreed service levels
  • Identify any critical service delivery vulnerabilities in the operational services and ensure adequate measures are in place to limit associated risks
  • Provide direct management and leadership of your team
  • Track and manage delivery of operational services to agreed Service Levels
  • Receive and review operational reports (e.g. daily, monthly) associated with the Hosting and Platform services and follow up as required (including analysing trends and issues with the services and remediate as required)
  • Manage the deployment of database upgrades to minimise the Bank's exposure to possible obsolescence, within the agreed architectural guidelines and standards
  • Ensure new / modified services are successfully transitioned into operations
  • Assist in the development, implementation and maintenance of Database Ecosystems and roadmaps for the Bank.
  • Provide advice and support to Service Managers and IT Commercial Managers to ensure SLAs, SLOs and financial targets and results (Service Delivery Components) are achievable and adequate
  • Involvement in any audits of the services within your control, and managing any subsequent follow-up activities.
  • Provide Operational review, input and advice to Service Managers and IT Commercial Managers for new Business Proposals (RFI, RFP and responses) and for existing service contract reviews/renegotiations.

What will you ideally need to be successful in this role?
  • Strong experience inDB Operational management of a medium sized team 10-20.
  • Cross technology experience required SQL and Oracle support experience
  • Good communications and negotiation skills
  • Experience managing vendors
  • Experience with Service management and reporting.
  • Detailed knowledge of Database management processes and architecture
  • Experience as a technical lead in a Database environment, preferably Oracle and SQL
  • Solid knowledge in Oracle and SQL Clustering / High availability options
  • Ability to communicate and articulate technology discussions in relation to Databases at both technical and business levels.
  • Experience managing day-to-day technology operations
  • Experience in people leadership
  • Experience managing the execution of technology enabled change projects
  • Understanding of commercial aspects of infrastructure service delivery
  • Demonstrated knowledge of IT Service Management and Delivery
  • A strong understanding of operational disciplines
  • An understanding of large scale IT outsourcing environment
  • Experience in working with multiple service providers as service integrator
