The Global Commodity Leader - Project will demonstrate leadership in working with a global supply base for GET Indirect Sourcing, specifically in the ITS business. In this role you will use your experience or expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for yourself and others, and directly affect short-term and some long-term business goals.
• Develop and execute long term, commodity project strategies with medium / high complex supply base and/or annual volume
• Commodities include Labor, Construction, Services, Equipment, Tooling, and other indirect spend as appropriate
• Manage and develop your supply base to meet YOY deflation and DTP (Days to Pay) goals and implement sourcing strategies that delivers a competitive advantage. (Supplier selection, rationalization and supplier consolidation to ensure sourcing optimization, and overall supplier performance)
• Plan and Lead sourcing execution for assigned commodity(s) and projects (Leading and executing RFP / RFQ’s and completing contract negotiations)
• Liaise with your peers in the other regions, as well with the global Indirect GE Transportation Sourcing team to be able to leverage suppliers, spend, systems and sourcing strategies
• Monitor supplier quality and delivery performance and develop improvement strategies to ensure business needs are met
• Lead the development and implementation of Key KPI’s and metrics for your respective suppliers and spend
• Partner with key business stakeholders to ensure sourced services or products meet the needs of the business
• Drive improvements in sourcing processes including invoicing/payables issues, database management / accuracy reporting deflation and ensuring all compliance needs are met per the Indirect Sourcing QSP
• Work closely with the other GE global business teams & regions to identify areas of opportunity to leverage supplier spend
• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university (Or High School Diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of experience in a Sourcing environment)
• Minimum of 5 years of Complex Project Management, Supplier Management and Sourcing Expertise
• Ability and willingness to travel, as required
• Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university
• Experience with Indirect commodity leadership (Labor, Construction, Services)
• Minimum of 5 years of working with progressive Sourcing / Supplier Development tools and processes
• Comfortable with technical tools / systems such as MS Access, Excel and Sourcing Systems (Oracle SSS, Maximo) and a willingness to learn
• Commercial experience, such as cost analysis, internal and external benchmarking, market trend analysis and supporting supplier negotiations
• Experience in managing suppliers with multiple sites and global locations
• Comfortable with ambiguity and enjoys managing multiple project and complex situations daily
• Proven quantitative and analytical abilities, strong PC and database management skills
• Strong oral and written communication skills, coupled with interpersonal and leadership skills
• Excellent negotiations skills and analytical skills with the ability to manage and develop supplier relationships
• Ability to energize, develop, and build rapport at all levels within an organization
• Proven ability to execute and deliver on commitments
• Six Sigma training is preferred (GE employees only)
