The Senior Engineer/Technologist (Service Systems Engineering) will improve the maintainability of the installed base of locomotives by working closely with both Engineering and Services teams. In addition, the Senior Engineer will serve as team leader for the other engineers across Australia & New Zealand.
- Creates locomotive maintenance instructions though close interaction with Engineering and with Service personnel, both GE and customer and both management and hourly craft.
Leverages experience in doing so to make improvements to the structure and approach used in those instructions.
- Develops and implements locomotive troubleshooting tools and techniques and identifies opportunities to improve scope and coverage for same
- Develops training material and trains Service personnel on maintenance instructions and troubleshooting tools and techniques
- Ensures operational excellence in the areas of integrity, controllership and compliance
- Provides team leadership to other service engineers in the region including ensuring appropriate training, distributing project workload across the team, and overseeing timely and effective execution by the team
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mech, Elect) or similar degree from an accredited university or college
- ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: Availability and ability to travel ~ 50% of the time
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics or Sciences
- Significant experience in Field Services, Maintenance, or Engineering
- Experience in the design and/or maintenance of locomotives
- Strong customer service mindset
- Ability to interface at all levels of the GE and customer organizations
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills and leadership experience including leading/managing direct reports
