Sales Engineer (Pre Sales) Job

About the Role and Responsibilities

As a Sales Engineer you will be responsible for being the technical thought leader on the McAfee Next Generation Firewall product range (Stonesoft) throughout the ANZ region. Acting as the technical specialist you will support sales proactively and progress deal flow by securing the “technical close” in complex solutions. Additionally you will be responsible for driving technical relationships with key customer accounts, act as a Technology Evangelist/Trusted Security Advisor whilst focusing on business development opportunities

Key Responsibilities

- Provides pre-sales support in relation to successful selling of McAfee Next Generation Firewall products.
- Support sales and marketing activities to drive new technologies into the McAfee market.
- Assist sales team with pre-sales activities including the development of formal sales plans and proposals, demonstrations and moderately complex presentations for larger and more significant customers
- Customer facing technical sales resource, positioning and propose solutions to clients and prospects
- Enabling the pre-sales technical functions within our Channel Partners, which includes demo enablement and POC support
- Provide consultation, training and sales support services for the product range to partners or direct to customers on-site or by telephone, taking technical responsibility
- Qualify, identifying technical risks and creating mitigation plans for key POC’s
- Responsible for defining, maintaining and distributing demo’s for chosen products
- Gather requirements, develop use cases, and fully understanding the client's business needs and constraints
- Conduct product education for the sales team on key features and differentiators

Qualifications

- Excellent communication and presentation skills (verbal and written)
- 7 years’ experience working in a consulting, pre-sales or sales engineering position
- Technical experience of installing, designing, managing, administering and supporting an enterprise network.
- Expertise in the following disciplines: Network administration & management, Network performance monitoring & analysis, Network Security & Encryption solutions and Firewall solutions
- Understanding of WAN and LAN infrastructures and ability to create large scale network security architectures
- In-depth understanding and configuration capability of dynamic routing protocols like EIGRP, IGRP, OSPF, BGP
- Ability to manage a Proof-of-Concept successfully
- Holds industry certifications from Cisco, Juniper Networks, Checkpoint or similar at least to professional level
- Experience working with SIs and channel partners
- Strong personal presence, capable of engaging senior management
- Good blend of business/commercial, sales and technical skills
- Understands the market issues and trends affecting the IT Security business and McAfee’s differentiators versus the competition
- Self-starter who is pro-active, creative, with lots of initiative and a positive, enthusiastic, can-do attitude
- Results-driven with strong goal-orientation
- Comfortable/Competent with both sales and delivery activities
- Preference given to individuals with strong networking background and expertise in IT Security Solutions
- Excellent presentation and public speaking skills
- Flexible with regards to travel
