We're looking for a very special Architect who will provide leadership to a team of world class engineers on a mission to change the way developers build software. Someone who will technically champion uniting JIRA and Atlassian Development Tools in a robust and performant way. Someone who will take products that are world class in their respective niche and design the way they should work together to guide teams through a frictionless development process and provide visibility across the entire cycle. Someone who will enable developers around the world to take their software from concept to launch at lightning speed.

As the Architect on the team you will have the technical seniority to lead the charge in attacking the most challenging problems. You will be responsible for analysing these problems, designing elegant solutions, and pushing your solutions through to implementation. You will be working with performance engineers and quality analysts who give your creations a good beating before they are released to millions of customers worldwide, all while training other developers on your team to grow their expertise.

What you'll do:

    Come up with elegant solutions to the challenging problems of integrating JIRA and Atlassian Development Tools (Bitbucket, Stash, Fisheye Crucible and Bamboo)
    Ensure the solutions scale to tens of millions of users
    Liaise with the technical leads, developers and product architects to promote great software design and quality
    Provide technical leadership and training to other developers on the team
    Attack most challenging parts of implementing your solutions
    Enable and encourage innovation by mentoring engineers and making appropriate technological choices
    Lead by example

Key Skills

    Excellent understanding and working knowledge of Java
    Experience with integrating products in a scalable and performant way
    Deep architectural understanding of web applications
    API (REST and Java) design skills

Typical experience

    7 years (or more) in a professional development role
    Previous Java Architect experience preferred
