Certified Clinical Coder (ICD10) The Qatar government has recently mandated the use of ICD 10 AM into the State of Qatar and require highly skilled people to help mentor and guide this process as we set about achieving the goals and objectives of the National Health Strategy. REQUIREMENTS: EDUCATION: Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) certificate (Intermediate or Advanced) from AHIMA or home-country equivalent association. Pref. Degree in Medical Records/Health Information, Allied Health Sciences, Medicine or Nursing. EXPERIENCE: 2-3 years in medical records/health information and ICD10 coding. Preferred: 5+ years in medical records/health information and ICD 10 coding, good training background in coding and reimbursement. AGE: Not exceeding the age of 53. LANGUAGE SKILLS: English essential, Arabic preferred. REQUIRED CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE/REGISTRATION: Recognized certificate in coding qualification: CHIMA, AHIMA, HIMA, NCCQ or home country equivalent. NATIONALITY: NO OTHER NATIONALITY THAN Australia, New Zealand. JOB DETAILS: POSITION SUMMARY: Within the Mission, Vision and Values of HMC and the Department of the Corporation the incumbent is responsible to achieve the corporation's targets for standards of accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of clinically coded data. The incumbent is also responsible for developing coder-clinician interaction and should demonstrate a high standard of clinical coding activity, to ensure that both clinicians and managers maintain a high level of confidence in the quality of the data. PRINCIPAL DUTIES: To achieve the corporations targets for standards of accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of clinically coded data in ICD 10 AM and assist Qatar as they begin this transition to ICD 10 AM. Maintain and further enhance the levels of coder-clinician interaction. To demonstrate the continued achievement of high standards of clinical coding in order to ensure that both clinicians and managers maintain a high level of confidence in the quality of the data. To assist in the development of a clinical coding training programme for staff, mentor staff as they transition from ICD 9 to ICD 10 AM. To keep abreast of clinical coding standards, reporting, and information policies according to Australian Standards and further develop standards according to Qatar healthcare requirements. To plan and develop an effective Clinical coding Audit programme and develop and implement coding strategies, policies and procedures across the Corporation. To assist the development of a clinical coding training programme for staff and mentor staff as they transition from ICD9 to ICD10AM.To provide a source of expertise and guidance on diagnostic and procedure coding to all disciplines within the Corporation and across the health economy. Checks and analyses medical records for accuracy, adequacy and consistency of documentation. Assigns appropriate codes for each diagnosis and procedure based on ICD 10 AM. Able to use the 3M encoder software and generate reports for casemix analysis. Assist in data gathering for research, studies, and statistics. Account for daily discharges and performs audit as necessary. Feed back to clinical coding data quality group findings and recommendations from clinical coding audits. Understands and works to the objectives of the National Health Strategy and Vision for 2030.Perform other related functions.
