The Mechanical Engineer role is a critical customer-facing role within GE's Global Services division and will provide on-site mechanical support with a focus on operation, trouble shooting, performance evaluation, and maintenance of the gas turbines, compressors and auxiliaries within the covered unit(s).

Position will be required to reside in Gladstone, which is located within the state of Queensland in Australia.
The role will take primary responsibility for borescope inspections of the covered unit(s), perform level inspections & other maintenance & planning as required and interpret the results, as well as supervise the removal/reinstallation of the GG and HSPT.

Responsibilities include:
• Prepare detailed work-scope for each agreed outage and for unplanned maintenance;
• Support parts storage and maintenance and assist on parts storage recommendation;
• Advise about testing, adjustment, programming and other similar services as agreed;
• Conduct maintenance planning, pre-outage, outage and post-outage planning activities with the maintenance team;
• Identify with appropriate management changes which need to be subject to the company management of change procedure;
• Provide technical advice and counsel in the execution of the contract for routine maintenance associated with operation of the covered unit(s);
• Assist with regular reviews of maintenance activities;
• Advise and counsel about testing, adjustment, programming and other similar services as agreed upon with headquarter technical assistance team. This service doesn't include supervision of other field engineers nor employees, agents, or other contractors and advisory;
• Forward and discuss NICs/SBs; plan the implementation of any agreed recommendations;
• Promptly respond to technical inquiries utilising contractor technical support services;
• Provide information regarding the latest advancements in conversion, modification and upgrades (CM&U) opportunities and assist with implementations of any agreed recommendations;
• Work with site teams to develop maintenance schedules, which optimize covered unit(s) reliability and availability;
• Maintain a maintenance history for the covered unit(s);
• Support in diagnosis and resolving maintenance or operational problems on the covered unit(s) with support of operation & maintenance staff;
• Respond to forced outages of the covered unit(s) and provide a first level troubleshooting;
• Act as a prime interface with RM&D team to collect data and site information to allow troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
• Bachelor Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Aero or Electrical) or appropriate Trade Level Certificate/Qualification
• Knowledge of turbo machinery (Gas Turbines & Compressors) demonstrating good knowledge of the mechanical aspects of the entire machinery
• Minimum of five years of technical and field experience including borescope inspections
• Demonstrated communication, organizational and facilitation skills
• Ability to work to tight deadlines
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills
• Proficiency with computer tools especially Microsoft office and Outlook
• Ability to work in a global environment/cultural awareness
