Field Project Engineer provides a technical reference point for engineering during Installation and Commissioning activities at site. This role is the bridge between Client representatives, GE Oil & Gas site teams and GE Oil & Gas headquarters engineering team. Responsible for providing engineering support from the delivery of machines through to formal acceptance into service at site (Commercial Operation Date).
The principal roles and responsibilities of this position typically include the following, dependent on the stage of the project.
Other ancillary duties may be assigned as required at a level commensurate with the individual’s experience. Typically duties such as providing project engineering support to internal and external customers with issues such as equipment testing, sourcing, quality, material and installation work packages.

• Investigation of equipment or commissioning technical issues, developing proposals for resolution, collecting information to assist engineering to resolve problems.
• Responsible for all technical communications between Client, Project Management, Site Management and Engineering during installation and commissioning activities
• Attend and lead meetings with Clients with a focus on design aspects, resolving technical issues, maintaining project configuration.
• Actively monitoring and providing input to ensure timely resolution of technical issues via GE Oil & Gas nonconformance management tools
• Maintaining a technical register to monitor and report on issues for weekly technical reviews with GE Project, Engineering and Site Management teams as well as reporting to Clients
• Mitigating technical risk through Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (FMEA) and providing input to Project Management risk planning
• Identifying engineering lessons learnt and contributing to continuous process and quality improvement including Root Cause Analysis (RCA)
• Support the Installation and Commissioning team with pre-start RFR (Red Flag Reviews) to minimize the impact on startup date and delivery
• As built drawing release at machines formal acceptance.
• Ownership of the engineering hours from shipment to COD and lead Change Order activities
• Ensuring that engineering is conducted in accordance with global GE processes & procedures

The delivery of GE Oil and Gas EPC projects often requires work to be executed at remote or overseas locations.

This role is Perth based, with site work (field based) as required by the stage of the project; ability to travel for up to 50% of the time can be expected. Both national and less frequently, international travel may be necessary.
Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Controls Engineering or similar.
Membership of a recognised professional engineering organisation is an advantage.
Minimum two to three years’ experience in with design of rotating equipment and associated support systems
Minimum two years field engineering experience in an EPC environment for a recognised oil and gas customer
Experience in design, installation, commissioning and technical issue resolution of GE Gas Turbines, Compressors Control Systems and Generators (Desirable)
Understanding of technical regulatory systems and product compliance verification and validation
Experience working in multi-discipline, multi-nationality teams
Strong desire to pursue a career in Oil & Gas Engineering.
Strong commitment to safe work practices (EH&S)
Good analytical skills combined with excellent problem solving skills.
Good communication skills and ability to cooperate in multi-disciplinary engineering groups.
Proactive and results oriented, self-motivated with an ability to work independently and in a team.
Ability to manage a high workload.
Good English language skills, both verbal and written.
Ability to communicate well in a multi-lingual/multi-cultural team environment.
