LICENCE: Registered Nurse EXPERIENCE: 3-5 Years experience in bedside nursing. At least 2 years experience in teaching patient/family. Knowledge and skills of the educational process and principles of adult education. Knowledge of Performance Improvement Process and international standards. OTHER QUALIFICATIONS: Field of expertise : Patient Education and clinical nursing Skills : Communication skills, consultation, creative problem-solving, research, evaluation process, working with groups. POSITION SUMMARY: Patient Educator works on a variety of patient / family education activities and assignments. Plan, organizes and implement a wide patient education program and a series of classes for selected group of patient / family within Medical Corporation facilities. Integrates patient education activities with other related activities in the hospital. Develops and manages specific disease-related patient teaching programs. Educate nurses to be a patient educator. Encourages and supports staff participation in providing patient education in the corporation. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Patient educator provides education to help patients make informed decision, maximize self-care, enhance recovery and promote wellness. The patient educator actively participates in the proactive identification and development of patient educational programs that will meet the needs of the patient and the corporation mission,. He/she are directly concerned in all phases of the educational process, i.e., patient’s needs identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation, and involving all four aspect in directing the hospital staff in providing appropriate patient education PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: This position requires standing, sitting, walking, and talking for undetermined periods of time. The individual can reasonably be expected to bend, stoop, reach, turn, and carry certain amount of weight 25 % of the time.
