Focus on the origination, structuring and execution of project finance.
At Westpac Institutional Bank (WIB),
we leverage the Westpac Group's very long and proud history spanning
almost 200 years. As we enter into the third century of banking, we
remain committed to deepening customer relationships, having the best
and most informed bankers to recognise customer needs and to respond to
change with superior solutions.
The Project & Acquisition Finance team ("PAF") is part of WIB's Debt Capital Markets (DCM) business and is responsible for the provision of non-recourse debt financing solutions for the WIB customer base. These project and acquisition financing opportunities, are most commonly evident across four industry sectors; infrastructure, power, natural resources and private equity.
An opportunity has arisen for a Director to join PAF, focusing on the project finance stream. Aligning with WIB's Natural Resources Strategy, the role will focus on the origination, structuring and execution of project finance and will be based in Perth. While based in Perth, the role would cover all project finance natural resources opportunities across WIB's core geographies. The role would require inter-state travel to engage with the customer and advisor base, and internal bank stakeholders.
Core Accountabilities
As a Director in PAF, you will be expected to partner with our relationship coverage teams in Corporate & Institutional Banking ("CIB") to originate, structure, negotiate, document and seek credit approval for project financings. This would include project financings for oil & gas, metals, bulk commodities projects, as well as associated infrastructure projects (e.g. port & rail). While natural resources will be the focus of the role, you would be expected to be able to lead project finance transactions across all sectors (e.g. power, infrastructure).
In addition, to the specific project finance responsibilities, being able to work within PAF and the CIB to originate acquisition finance and private equity sponsored transactions with the CIB WA client base is also an important element of the role.
Over time we expect the role will develop into a lead role for the whole of the DCM product set.
Internally, you will work closely with members of the PAF team, WIB Relationship Managers, WIB Business Development Managers, Industry Analysts, WIB Legal, WIB Credit, and the other DCM teams. Externally, the role will be focus on new origination, and you will work closely with clients, lawyers, consultants and other banks.
