QA Consultant Job

Location : Brisbane, Australia
Company over view

ThoughtWorks has been at the forefront of software testing innovation for a long time and we are the creators of Selenium, a portable software testing framework for web applications.

We've made contributions to the open-source community via projects like this one, as well as Frankenstein and SharpRobo. We do things differently here, by getting our testers working closely with our developers and business analysts right from the requirements gathering stage. As a member of the team you'll be around to ask the awkward questions and try the scenarios that analysts or developers don't dream up.

We believe that there are many more improvements necessary to advance software testing as a craft, and more testers to bring into our ways of thinking. We’re currently thinking a lot about automated acceptance testing, domain specific languages, evolutionary database design and Guerilla SOA/REST. You may have already read some of our books on these topics, or checked out our Technology Radar

As a TW QA you'll get to
  • Work in an informal, collaborative, transparent, non-hierarchical, ego-free culture where your talent is valued over a role title
  • Work alongside incredibly talented testers
  • Design, build, and test critical and complex custom-designed, multi-tier, business applications that use a wide range of the very latest technologies
  • Mentor and evangelize Agile, Lean, and Continuous Development testing best practices
  • Develop your career outside of the confinements of a traditional career path by focusing on what you are passionate about rather than a predetermined one-size-fits-all plan
  • Shape the future of ThoughtWorks by leading and/or contributing to communities within ThoughtWorks
  • Freely voice your ideas and views as part of continuous, open and passionate debate on every topic
  • Be a part of an organization that is as committed to social responsibility as it is to technology and innovation

Ideally you'll have
  • 2 to 10 years experience as a QA engineer with significant focus on test automation
  • Experience with at least one of the leading test automation tools and frameworks, especially open-source tools such as Selenium, Sahi, Watir, Watij, Watin, Fitness, and Cucumber etc
  • Experience with testing products on any of the following technology stacks (or equivalent): Ruby, Java, .NET, SQL, XML, web services
  • Experience in testing web applications
  • Knowledge of software best practices like test-driven development (TDD), behavioral-driven development (BDD), and continuous integration
  • Collaborative and un-hierarchical work style. (Not sure if that’s you? Ask yourself how easy do people find it to work with you.)
  • A willingness to do what it takes to get the job done. Whether that means going back to the drawing board with problem or simply taking on different roles and responsibilities for a period of time you thrive at adapting to changing environments
  • Computer Science Degree or Technical equivalent
