Job Description – tasks to be performed on a daily basis
  • To provide coordination support to various functions across purchasing, inventory planning, logistics and distribution.
  • Manage a set range of products on a national basis to meet the needs of the Telstra work force having specific regards to service levels stock availability inventory levels and turn rate targets.
  • Set priorities with suppliers for normal delivery scheduling and vary as necessary in a shortage or emergency situation..
  • Review and analyse slowly moving and excess inventory and effect any approved disposals.
Mandatory skills - the absolute minimum skill level required for the candidate to be considered:
  • An understanding of material management principles, processes and systems.
  • Proven analytical ability of a high standard.
  • Commitment to standardisation of best practice planning and inventory management principles.
  • Well developed interpersonal skills to enable effective communication with suppliers, customers, management, technology specialists and peers.
  • Demonstrated ability to work efficiently and effectively with limited direction.
  • Demonstrated achievement of excellent customer service.
  • Is willing to share information and skills, to coach, help and advise others. Technical Skills:
  • Maintain up to date system data as required.
  • Document and perform standard logistics and distribution processes as required.
  • Provide logistics, purchasing and administration coordination as required.
  • Provide standard and ad-hoc reports as required in full and on time.
  • Provide coordination and support across all areas of inventory planning, purchasing and logistics in support of the tactical plan and programs of work to deliver optimal inventory management practice.
  • Understand how the team’s performance impacts on broader business.
  • Recommend step wise improvements to improve operational delivery and reduce variance.
  • Escalate unanticipated variations for approval.
  • Develop a sound understanding of all logistical touch points and their impact on the Supply Chain.
Preferred skills - the ideal skills you would like the candidate to have:
  • SAP experience
  • Microsoft Office Any other important information:
  • Project Environment with tight deadlines and contract penalty clauses. Imperative that target dates be met.
