Job description
IBM’s Software Group holds the dominant market share in groupware products, enterprise messaging, transaction processing and enterprise systems management. Active in both development and consulting, SWG remains at the forefront of the industry by delivering innovative software applications whilst also providing clients with benchmark integration strategies.

The IBM Australia Development Lab (ADL) plays a key role in developing and supporting IBM software products. ADL has skilled technical teams in locations around Australia engaged in every facet of software product development and support. This creative talent continues to be a driving force in bringing new products to market and its support teams deliver to a world-class standard. ADL works closely with other IBM research and development sites, services and support teams around the world, often managing multi-cultural, global teams with assisting clients world-wide.

As the Software Engineer you will be providing technical support via phone and email to clients throughout the Asia Pacific region. Creating technical content for web based self help resources. Exposure to latest technologies and software development processes, as well as development of key business skills in client management, problem analysis and issue resolution.

All applicants must be have good written and verbal communication skills in English, Japanese, Chinese and Korean. Applicants must possess initiative, client focus, good problem solving, and time management skills. Understanding of Software development cycle.

Must have knowledge in 2 or more of the following:

1 or more of the following programming languages: C, C++, C#, Java/J2EE
Unix/Linux development environments
Windows development environments
Web Server Technology
Networking

Knowledge in the following technologies would be advantageous:

Scripting languages (shell, PERL, VB)
HTTP/HTTPS
HTML, XML, Servlets, Applets, CGI
J2EE, JAAS
Web Services
Data Communications
