The Team: The Retail Network Assurance team is responsible for providing an independent assessment of internal controls within the RBS Network
The Team:

The Retail Network Assurance team is responsible for providing an independent assessment of internal controls within the RBS Network.This involves the performance of audits of Retail Branches, Premier Banking Centres, Area Offices and Regional Offices. The team comprises of 13 CBA staff located across three main offices in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane and 3 BankWest staff located in Perth. The team forms part of the broader Assurance and Audit team consistent of 90 people.

The placement of this position is in Perth.

The Role:

To undertake operational audits of the CBA RBS Branch Network, Premier Banking Centres, Regional Offices and Area Office to provide an independent assessment of internal control management of those businesses to the Audit Committee and RBS Management, as part of CBA Audit & Assurance layer three assurance responsibilities.It will also include supporting the BW audit team with the completion of Store Audits in Western Australia.

This will include:

  • Develop and manage relationships with key clients and stakeholders including Branch Managers, Area Managers and Regional General Managers within the RBS Network, and internally within CBA Audit & Assurance, including BW Store Audit team. Ensuring appropriate and effective engagement whilst maintaining independence from the business.
  • Ensure the accurate and timely reporting of audit findings to key stakeholders.
  • Through the provision of high quality risk focused assurance work, provide powerful insights and recommendations to management to drive improvements in the control environment which support CBA in achieving it's strategic objectives.
  • Maintain and develop your knowledge of the Group's risk management and compliance framework, Retail Banking products, processes and policies, and the regulatory environment.

The Candidate:

To be successful you will have:
  • A strong understanding of operational risk and the management of internal controls, especially in relation to the RBS Network;
  • Ability to perform quality risk assessments
  • Clear and concise written and oral communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of management;
  • The ability and commitment to undertake extensive travel throughout Australia to complete audits, for periods of up to 4 weeks.This will necessitate extensive time away from home, preferably with a team member but, on occasions, alone. Thismay include weekends, across a variety of regional and interstate locations, which will on occasions require periods of country driving;
  • Retail Banking experience and knowledge of the regulatory environment
  • Experience of managing change / operational transformation / driving process improvement
  • Candidates with tertiary qualifications will be highly regarded
